I Agreed to What?! Privacy and Social Media

Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, SnapChat -- Are you on one of these? Two? Three? Every day, social media platforms are becoming more and more intertwined with our daily lives and work. However, recent developments, such as the Cambridge Analytica Facebook scandal, have prompted a lot of discussions concerning how much social media platforms know about you, how much information they share with others, and who they are sharing that information with.

Buckle up and let's take a trip on the dark side. Find out what you agreed to when you accepted their Terms of Service!

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify 3 types of information about you that social media platforms would like to share with other organizations
  • Using your favorite social media platform, explain one way you can make your information more private
  • Assist patrons and colleagues in safeguarding their social media footprint
